MTB and the Dublin Mountains on TV

Last night, RTE 1 (Ireland's main TV Station) showed a program about the use of the Dublin and Wicklow mountains by various groups: walkers, artists, scouts and most importantly, Mountain Bikers.

My club and I were involved in the mountain biking segment from about 7 minutes in. I think it worked pretty well.

Cycling, road, MTB, track, commuting, fixie etc... have been on our National TV channels almost weekly now for months. It's great to see and hopefully secures in peoples minds that Ireland really is a great country for riding in - no matter what your discipline or level.

2010 Irish National Cyclocross Video

As I posted earlier - the National Cyclocross Championships where on at the weekend. My report is still to come (I came second) but I wanted to post this video first. It's pretty short (I forgot to charge the camera), and mostly covers the front of the race but at least you get to see what it was like :)

I bought a Canon HF200 recently and this is the first clip I threw together - I was racing so Oisin Fitzgerald took the footage. A few lessons have been learnt (iMovie takes up a lot of resources - iMovie isn't that great beyond quick tasks - editing takes up lots of time if done right - I didn't do it right).

Anyway - enjoy - make sure to watch in HQ mode.

Yes I did play basketball in my past...

You wouldn't expect it from this blog, or from talking to me in general, but I was completely immersed in basketball for many years when I was younger - I even contemplated taking a scholarship to play in the US. I didn't, and here I am today. I keep an eye on what is happening in the basketball world from time to time and seen this video. Very very impressive...
